Official Project Description
This project simulates GLYT1, the major human glycine transporter, is responsible for terminating neurotransmission in neuronal signalling.
Deleterius mutants of GLYT1 are associated with a number of neurological diseases, including schizophrenia and hyperekplexia, and drugs targeting GLYT1 have been proposed for treatment of Alzheimers.
These simulations will provide a mechinistic study of the kinetics and thermodynamics of the intermediate processes involved in the forward transport cycle.
